NFL fans are up in arms over the price of Sunday Ticket on the Apple app store ahead of the new season.

The NFL’s out-of-market game package is now available for viewing on an iPad or iPhone – but it will cost fans an eye-watering sum.

According to Puck’s John Ourand, Sunday Ticket will cost $679.99 annually on the Apple app store.

Packaged with RedZone, it costs $739.99 per year.

Ourand noted that the NFL does not control the pricing .

In addition, Apple takes a 30% commission on all products in its app store, which is factored into the pricing.

And many NFL fans are furious about the high costs of the popular TV product.

“WTF, are they serious. Send it back to Direct tv…. I would get it free almost every year,” one fan said.

“Thats crazy just to watch football on TV. Its no wonder people stream illegally!” another fan noted.

“It’s actually insane how much they are charging for it. How can anyone afford this?” a third fan said.

If fans purchase NFL Sunday Ticket or the RedZone bundle through YouTube TV it costs $379 and $419, respectively.

Sunday Ticket will come with a massive upgrade during the 2024 season, however.

Fans will be able to watch multiple games on the YouTube-operated streaming service simultaneously with a customizable multiview feature.

The option will be available on both YouTube and YouTube TV, starting from Week 1, per Front Office Sports .

Users can add up to four separate feeds in almost any combination they want their grid to be.

NFL RedZone will be among the available telecasts.

The only restrictions will reportedly be put on in-market game broadcasts, which are available to subscribers with access to local channels through YouTube TV.

The news comes with the NFL still embroiled in a legal battle over past Sunday Ticket pricing.

After a lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles, a jury ruled in June that the league inflated subscription fees while making DirecTV the service’s sole distributor before YouTubeTV acquired the rights in 2022.

The NFL was ordered to pay $4.7 billion to then-subscribers.

Two months later, the case’s judge overturned the verdict.

However, the judge’s decision to overturn the ruling can be appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

The 2024 NFL season will kick off on Thursday, September 5.
