PITTSBURGH Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is ready to unleash backup quarterback Justin Fields on the Atlanta Falcons.

The Steelers confirmed that Russell Wilson will start under center on September 8 after he won an offseason battle for the job.

But Tomlin warned his opposite number Raheem Morris that he has a few tricks up his sleeve thanks to Fields’ unique talents.

“My friend Raheem Morris better be ready for a Justin Fields package,” Tomlin said on The Rich Eisen Show yesterday.

“There’s too much talent to be sitting around watching.”

Fields, 25, was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft .

The dual-threat quarterback showed flashes of talent, but did not do enough to establish himself.

He was traded to the Steelers in March after the Bears set their sights on Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in this year’s Draft.

Fields threw for 199 yards on 19-of-27 passing and rushed 13 times for 48 yards in preseason, but struggled with fumbles and a lack of touchdowns.

His rushing ability could see him come in for designed plays at quarterback, while some have suggested that he could have a role as a returner.

Wilson, 35, arrived in Pittsburgh this offseason after being cut by the Denver Broncos and did enough to edge out his rival.

He played just five snaps in the final preseason contest, completing both of his passes to lead a scoring drive.

Ahead of the game, First Take co-host Stephen A. Smith tore into Wilson for a perceived poor attitude.

“How in the hell do you think you’re cool talking to the media like, ‘Calm down, relax.’ Who do you think you are?” Stephen A. blasted.

“Have you not been watching you?

“This is how we know that life has got real comfortable for him, that he ain’t going home and really, really watching film. At least of himself.

“Because if you watched yourself there’s no way you turning up in Pittsburgh acting all nonchalant like everything is cool.

“You need to show up with a level of urgency like your job is on the line.

“You haven’t done a damn thing yet, you have a lot to prove. He needs to act like it.

“I don’t understand how it’s cool for you to sit up there with a smile on your face.

“You’re a Super Bowl champion, you’ve been the two Super Bowls in your career, you’re a nine-time pro bowler, you are fighting for your career with Justin Fields, who I think got a lot of problems.

“But he is smiling like he got his beautiful wife next to him and you about to go to a Taylor Swift concert or something.

“No, you compete for the damn job.”
