ESPN’s Get Up cast discussed what quarterback besides Patrick Mahomes they would want to start their franchise with on Thursday morning.

After former NFL safety and broadcaster Louis Riddick selected Jordan Love, former NFL guard Woody weighed in with his opinion.

“Damn it, I’m going with CJ Stroud,” Woody said .

ESPN’s Martin reacted to the opinion by shaking her head.

Woody continued to go on his rant as to why he would choose Stroud to start his franchise.

“All this man did was come into the NFL and drop his coconuts on everybody in the National Football League,” Woody continued.

Martin rolled her eyes and held her head while Get Up host Mike Greenberg and Riddick laughed.

“That’s all that man did, this man had the best rookie quarterback season in the history of the National Football League,” Woody said.

“The Houston Texans were a damn joke of a franchise and all he did was turn around that whole franchise in one season.

“We’re literally talking about the Houston Texans possibly being the team going head-to-head with Patrick Mahomes cause of CJ Stroud.”

Fans joined in on social media to share their opinions and comment their thoughts on Woody’s bizarre analogy.

“Wood got me hollering over here,” one fan said, adding three laughing emojis.

“Very debatable,” claimed a second fan.

“I’m going with the guy who studied behind Aaron Rodgers, Woody can’t be serious!” argued a third.

“The CJ Stroud had the best rookie QB season needs to stop cause its simply just not true,” a fourth wrote to X.

You can start buying tickets for some games on several sites now:

Before purchasing tickets on resale websites check pricing as they are third-party sellers and, importantly, the cost can vary depending on demand. You may pay more than an official ticket, though you can also get good last-minute deals too.

But if you can’t be there in person, don’t worry, there’s still time to set up your stream before the season starts.

“CJ had a good season but now everyone has film…he hits a sophomore slump, just wait,” predicted a fifth fan.

Meanwhile, Stroud put up impressive stats as a rookie quarterback last season.

He completed 319 passes for 4,108 yards and threw 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 15 games.

Stroud led the Texans to the playoffs last season for the first time since 2019.

The rookie quarterback led the Texans to a 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns but ultimately fell short in the next round to the Baltimore Ravens 34-10.

In two playoff games, Stroud completed 35 passes for 449 yards, throwing three touchdowns to zero interceptions.

Stroud is expected to take a major step up this year after the Texans added star running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the offense.
