    Joey Chestnut vs Takeru Kobayashi explained: What are the rules, how can I watch the big hot dog-eating contest?

    NO hot dog is safe later on today as Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi compete against each other in a wiener-eating contest.

    The renowned 16-time world champion Chestnut goes up against six-time champ Kobayashi in a battle which is being dubbed ‘Unfinished Beef’.

    The two rivals have been at each other’s throats for years and have competed on the biggest stages.

    But it doesn’t get much bigger than this for either man.

    Forget dog eats dog; it’s now man eats dog as Chestnut looks to retain his crown at the GOAT glizzy guzzler.

    Kobayashi knows his way around a frankfurter, though, and will give it everything he has to dethrone his nemesis.

    How to watch Chestnut vs Kobayashi

    • Chestnut’s clash with Kobayashi is available to watch on Netflix .
    • There are no extra costs of pay-per-view fees to watch.
    • If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you can watch it all from the app, which you can download onto your phone, tablet or Smart TV.
    • The action begins at 3pm ET/8pm BST.

    What are the rules?

    There are seven simple rules:

    • 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs and buns as possible.
    • No dunking or pouring water on hot dogs and buns.
    • No separation of hot dogs and buns.
    • Penalties may be issues for rule breaks and regurgitation.
    • 30 seconds to finish what’s left in their mouth at the end of 10 minutes.
    • Excess crumbs to be weighed and deducted from scores if necessary.
    • Tiebreaker: three minutes overtime. If a second overtime is necessary, the winner will be the first to finish five hot dogs and buns.

    • Leah Shutkever – watermelon eating world record attempt (most consumed in three minutes)

    Chestnut has said: “Through all of my years in competitive eating, Kobayashi stands out as my fiercest rival.

    “Competing against him pushed me to be so much better.

    “I know that fans have waited a long time for another chapter of our rivalry and I can’t wait for our massive showdown live on Netflix! It’s time to give the people what they want!”
