THE Chicago White Sox have hit another low in their troubled season – but it did at least spark an outstanding piece of commentary.

The White Sox are faring so badly in 2024 that fans are calling them the worst team in MLB history.

Viewers witnessed a comedy moment – although not for White Sox fans – during their game with the red-hot Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

With two outs and the bases loaded, Eloy Jimenez stepped into the box and hit a high popup down the third base line on the first pitch.

The ball was hit clear of the infield, but three fielders had the chance to pick it up – White Sox shortstop Jacob Amaya, third baseman Miguel Vargas, and left fielder Andrew Benintendi.

Amaya spotted Benintendi and swerved out of the way, but Vargas unfortunately did not.

The inevitable happened and the two players collided.

Three runs scored, and Vargas fell to the ground after getting hit in the face.

Step in Kevin Brown, who was calling the game for the Orioles on MASN.

Brown was pitch-perfect with his response in the booth.

“Oh, no,” he exclaimed. “Oh, my goodness. The White Sox have just gone full White Sox.”

The White Sox record for this season is atrocious, this defeat taking them to 31-109. And fans were quick to have their say on X.

“I didn’t know it was THIS BAD. The Chicago White Sox are 4-37 since the All-Star Break. They have to go 12-11 the rest of the way to avoid tying the 1962 Mets (120 losses),” one fan wrote.

“By far the worst team in the history of the MLB,” another fan said.

“This entire team belongs in the minors,” a third fan said.

“I have never been this embarrassed as a fan… a line I have repeated with more regularity over the past few years,” a fourth person posted.

It was just a sorry game all around for the ChiSox, who ended up losing 9-0.

Interim manager Grady Sizemore, who suffered another frustrating watch, was tossed from the game in the sixth inning after he argued a called strike against Benintendi.

He ran onto the field and began remonstrating with home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.

It was X-rated stuff, with expletives coming from both men.

Another umpire and a White Sox assistant eventually stepped in to stop the sparring and the game continued.

It all begs the question – where on earth do the White Sox go from here?
