Shannon Sharpe told ‘don’t diss Aaron Rodgers name’ after controversial MVP remarks live on First Take sparks debate

GREEN Bay Packers star Jordan Love is more likely to be named Most Valuable Player this season than Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, according to Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe made the comments on ESPN’s First Take, ahead of the meeting between the Packers and Eagles in Brazil on Friday night.

Naturally, fans were quick to have their say on X, and not everyone agreed.

Sharpe was asked straight out who he thought was more likely to be MVP in the NFL in 2024, and he went for the Packers quarterback.

“I’m going to say Jordan Love,” he said.

“His first full year of starting, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, over 4,100 yards. He’s the real deal,” Sharpe said.

“If you watch him and you watch some of his mannerisms, the way he can throw the football from the pocket.

“The way he can throw the football on the move, the way he can change arm slots, he reminds you a lot of Aaron Rodgers.

“I’m not going to say he’s as going to be as great as Aaron Rodgers was, or is.

“But you watch his mannerisms and he learned a lot of what he’s able to do by standing behind Aaron Rodgers and studying him.

“He is polished. He’s better than I thought he was going to be.

“I don’t think anyone thought he was going to be this good coming out of the gate.”

Sharpe also suggested he feels Hurts needs to step up a gear in the 2024 season.

“Jalen Hurts had a bad year, he is going to have to prove that the year before when he almost won the MVP was not an anomaly,” Sharpe said.

“He has got to prove this past season was an anomaly. He’s got to get that taste out of his mouth.”

Fan reaction wasn’t slow to come in following Sharpe’s comments.

With this season’s schedule now revealed, eager NFL fans are looking to secure tickets to their favorite games.

You can start buying tickets for some games on several sites now:

Before purchasing tickets on resale websites check pricing as they are third-party sellers and, importantly, the cost can vary depending on demand. You may pay more than an official ticket, though you can also get good last-minute deals too.

But if you can’t be there in person, don’t worry, there’s still time to set up your stream before the season starts.

You can also keep up to date with the latest NFL coverage right here at The U.S. Sun.

“Don’t diss Aaron Rodgers name,” one fan said.

“From 6 good games Love is all of a sudden better after Hurts went to a Super Bowl make it make sense,” another fan said.

“Jalen Hurts is superior in nearly every where, what is Shannon watching?” a third fan commented.

“As an Eagles fan he’s 100% correct. Hurts just can’t hold a candle to Love,” a fourth fan said.

The 2024 season is finally getting underway this week, with Thursday’s opening game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.

Then the Packers and Eagles take center stage, with a rare NFL Friday game.

It’s the first time a regular season game has ever been played in Brazil and is another surefire sign of the NFL’s intention to spread its brand internationally.

The game will be available to watch via Peacock.
