    Nurse Melissa Jubane missing weeks after marrying military husband as cops plead for help with ‘highly unusual case’

    POLICE are calling on the public to assist in the search for a nurse who has been missing since Wednesday.

    On Thursday, cops searched the apartment complex where Melissa Jubane lived in Portland , Oregon.

    Concern about Jubane’s well-being first arose when the young nurse did not show up for her shift at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center on Wednesday morning, reported NBC affiliate KGW .

    Officers went door-to-door and utilized a bloodhound during the search of the apartment complex.

    The Beaverton Police Department told the outlet that the case was “unusual” but did not go into further detail.

    Police are interested in chatting with every resident of the apartment complex where Jubane lived, according to KGW.

    Investigators have described Jubane as 5 feet 2 inches and 120 pounds.

    As of Friday, Officials said they have not found any leads.

    In addition to authorities, many of Jubane’s friends and colleagues also assisted in the search.

    “We’re trying to support her family as much as we can and do our part, but I think getting the help from the community is really helping,” Vianca Urias, a former coworker told the outlet.

    Urias added: “She has an amazing soul.”

    Another former coworker, Samantha Oregon, added: “She’s just a ball of joy.”

    “She was always happy, you know. Whenever I had rough days, she would bring me back.”

    A Providence Health spokesperson also released a statement regarding Jubane’s disappearance.

    “All of us at Providence are holding Melissa Jubane, her family and friends and those who work with her closely in our hearts and in our prayers,” the spokesperson told CBS Affiliate KOIN .

    “Melissa is an RN at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. When she did not arrive for her shift yesterday, Melissa’s coworkers were immediately concerned. With the support of the Providences security team, we asked police to check on Melissa.”

    The statement concluded: “Police have now issued a public call for help in finding Melissa.”

    The Beaverton Police Department did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

    In order to help officials in the search, Beaverton Police have set up a tip line and website dedicated to the search.

    NEWLY WEDDED

    Jubane’s mysterious disappearance comes about a week after she got married in Hawaii .

    Her husband, who has yet to be identified, is from the area but is currently stationed in Washington with the military on active duty.

    Jubane’s husband says that he, along with several friends and family members have been trying to contact the nurse but with no luck, reports Fox affiliate KPTV .

    A Providence Health spokesperson released a statement regarding Melissa Jubane's disappearance.

    “All of us at Providence are holding Melissa Jubane, her family and friends and those who work with her closely in our hearts and in our prayers,” the spokesperson told CBS Affiliate KOIN .

    “Melissa is an RN at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. When she did not arrive for her shift yesterday, Melissa’s coworkers were immediately concerned.

    “With the support of the Providences security team, we asked police to check on Melissa.

    “Police have now issued a public call for help in finding Melissa.”

    Oregon also spoke out about her friend’s disappearance.

    “You hear about it and you see about it all around different areas around the world about missing people and when it’s someone that you really care about and you’re really close to, it just doesn’t feel real,” Oregon told KOIN.

    “It’s like you don’t want it to be real.

    “We’re just trying to find answers, for Melissa and her family. you know, trying to find anything that could help us as to her whereabouts,” Oregon continued.

    “Whenever she see me little down, she would always bring me back up. So she was definitely like my rock. Whenever I had tough times.”

    But beyond being a good friend, Oregon said Jubane is also a dog owner and called the disappearance out of character.

    “It’s definitely not like her. And she has her, her dog. So I know that she wouldn’t want to leave her dog for so long. So that was like her little baby,” Oregon said.

    “It’s been very difficult for everyone that knew her and how great of person she is,”
