On Friday, Chase shared he will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s season opener versus the New England Patriots.

The 24-year-old revealed that he would be willing to play the season without an extension.

Still, Chase says it will be up to him whether he plays in the Week 1 game at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

“It’s my decision,” he said, via ESPN .

Chase, who’s listed as questionable, indicated that both sides are close to a deal and that progress was made on that front.

However, Chase said that the deadline was Friday on a potential agreement.

“It’s a small chance, but who knows what’ll happen then, these next couple hours?” he said.

Chase appeared at practice on Friday, the third straight day of participation.

He didn’t suit up for practice throughout training camp and didn’t show up to Monday’s workout.

Chase has seen numerous wide receivers receive huge contract extensions, including fellow 2021 draftee and Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson .

His former LSU teammate got a $140 million deal during the summer .

When asked about a report that Chase wanted to get a larger contract, he scoffed at the thought.

“If I want to beat Justin, I’m gonna beat the s**t out of Justin,” Chase said.

    “Not by a penny, brother.”

When it comes to Chase’s asking price, he shared that his stance hasn’t changed.

In terms of what Chase wants in a deal, he said his stance hasn’t moved.

“I mean, nothing really changed,” he told ESPN . “Justin and CeeDee [Lamb] set the market. The market’s been set. It’s written for me, not me writing it.”

Chase won’t be the only Bengals star wideout who could be out Sunday.

Higgins has been listed as doubtful to play against the Patriots due to a hamstring injury he suffered on Thursday.

Pro Bowl quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati squad will hope to bounce back after missing the playoffs last season.
