    New River CTC Announces Barber Chemical Control Workforce Class

    LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College is excited to announce the Barber Chemical Control Workforce class, offered at the Greenbrier Valley Campus (GVC). This course is designed to help barbers complete the additional 300 hours of training required for certification, focusing specifically on chemical treatments such as hair coloring, perming, and relaxing.

    The Barber Chemical Control class will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning with the Fall semester on August 26. This schedule allows for a concentrated period of learning, providing ample time each day for both theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on experience.

    This structured approach ensures that barbers not only meet state and industry requirements but also gain the expertise necessary to perform chemical treatments confidently and safely. This added qualification can significantly enhance their skill set, making them more versatile and attractive to potential employers or clients.

    The cost for the course is $3,900. Barbers who have already completed 1,200 hours of general training but still need to fulfill an additional 300 hours focused on chemical treatments are encouraged to participate. Preregistration is required by August 19 th .

    New River Community and Technical College serves nine counties in southeast and south-central West Virginia: Fayette, Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, and Webster. The College offers classes online in Beaver at the Raleigh County Campus, in Ghent at the Advanced Technology Center, in Hinton at Summers County ARH Hospital, in Lewisburg at the Greenbrier Valley Campus, in Marlinton at One Room University, in Princeton at the Mercer County Campus and Summersville at the Nicholas County Campus.
