A 36-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison in connection with human trafficking in Wichita.

Alan Vonshay Jones of Wichita pleaded guilty June 25 to attempted commercial sexual exploitation of a child, promoting the sale of sexual relations, aggravated assault, attempted robbery, criminal threat and criminal damage to property, according to a news release Thursday from the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

He was sentenced to serve 92 months in prison with lifetime supervision after he is released.

Court documents offer some details about the incidents between June and December in 2021 that led to the charges and sentencing.

Jones received money after coercing someone to “involuntary servitude or forced labor, committed in whole or in part for the purpose of sexual gratification of the defendant [Jones] or another,” an amended information court document says.

He said “I’ll kill you and whoever you love” to an unnamed person and told another person that he would kill her and her family, court documents show.

He also stole and destroyed someone’s cell phone. He also destroyed tires, televisions and furniture, the amended information document said.

Sedgwick County Christopher Magana ordered Jones to pay $4,961.41 in restitution to the victims, $2,500 to the human trafficking assistance fund and $800 to the Sedgwick County Child Advocacy Center.
