Don’t miss Sunday in the Rose Garden

Celebrate the 25th Sunday in the Rose Garden this weekend with music, family-friendly activities and roses.

The annual event, presented by the Wilson Rose Garden Board, is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Wilson Rose Garden, located at 1800 Herring Ave.

A number of events are planned for Sunday’s popular event.

Bill Myers, co-founder of The Monitors, will serenade the crowd with his captivating tunes. Face painting will be offered by XO Love Morgan, who can create favorite characters or whimsical designs.

There will also be the unveiling of a memorial stone dedicated to Katherine Moss Forehand.

Guests can look forward to a spring hat contest. Those attending are encouraged to wear a decorated spring hat for a chance to win a prize. In addition, there will be door prizes, kids’ activities and the chance to capture memories with your cellphone at photo opportunities throughout the garden.

Homemade ice cream from Scoopy Dippy Doo will be available for purchase.

“We are expecting a great turnout this year,” said event chairperson Alicia Thorpe. “It will be a fun time in the Wilson Rose Garden. So, come out with the family and have a great time to celebrate the 25th Sunday in the Rose Garden and stop and smell the roses.”

The Wilson Rose Garden is located at the city of Wilson’s Charles Pittman III Operations Center, 1800 Herring Ave., Wilson. The garden is a public garden and includes hundreds of rose bushes with varieties ranging from heirloom garden roses to modern hybrids. The Wilson Rose Garden is maintained by a group of volunteers known as The Deadheaders.
