Wilson County will hold its second public meeting for residents to give their continued input on the 2045 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson County Agricultural Center at 1806 Goldsboro St. SW.

“The public meeting is the final chance for citizens to come and express their concerns and give us their input before we finalize the draft of our 2045 plan,” said Stephen Mann, Wilson County’s communications director. “This meeting in particular will give Wilson County citizens the chance to review our interactive land use map, find their parcel and click to leave a comment if they choose.”

Wilson County held its first public meeting in April, but very few people attended. The comprehensive plan serves as a guide for growth and development over the next 20-plus years, which is why officials say it’s vital for residents make their voices heard.

“A lot has changed since our last comprehensive plan was adopted in 2008,” Mann said.

A comprehensive plan entails a wide variety of areas including demographics, infrastructure and utilities, transportation, community character, vision and goals, community services and facilities, housing, land use, environmental, recreation and open spaces. The plan has several goals, including collaborative partnerships, economy, community facilities, quality of life and growth management. Commissioners are expected to adopt the final plan in the fall.
