The Wilson Planning and Design Review Board approved rezoning 9.9 acres on Merck Road Tuesday night from agricultural residential to single family residential in order to make way for a new subdivision.

The nine-minute meeting saw little discussion, but both the applicant, Bartlett Engineering, and the property owner, Ramona Desmith, were available for questions.

Desmith told the Times she and her husband, Theodore Desmith, intend to develop a small subdivision on the 10-acre property. She said she did not know exactly how many homes yet. The property is adjacent to the Bellingham subdivision and is between Purdue Pharmaceuticals and Merck.
