20-Year-Old Suspect Arrested Following Fatal Shooting in Spring Area as Montgomery County Community Breathes Sigh of Relief
The tranquility of Spring and The Woodlands areas was recently pierced by the sound of gunfire, resulting in one fatality and setting off an intense manhunt that concluded on Friday with an arrest. Mark Anthony Crooms Jr., a 20-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old John Dennis Holmes III, as reported by KHOU. The apprehension came to be after a three-day search effort by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force in Humble.
Montgomery County deputy arrests woman for misdemeanor eluding
MONTGOMERY, Texas — A woman was arrested for misdemeanor eluding after attempting to evade a traffic stop, according to the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office. A Precinct 4 K9 Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver accelerated and tried to hide. The deputy located the vehicle at Community Drive and Loop 494, made contact with the driver, and conducted an investigation. Following the investigation, the woman was taken into custody.
Cypress-area man sentenced to 40 years for killing friend
A Cypress-area man, who killed a high school friend in a late-night shooting, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday. James Michael Sotelo, 21, received the sentence from a judge for the murder of Corey Thompson, a high school friend who was staying at the Sotelo family home on March 20, 2021. At the time of the shooting, Sotelo was an 18-year-old high school dropout and the victim was 17 years old.
