By now, some Alabama R&B and jazz fans know that 'I Try' and 'Something About You' singer Angela Bofill has died.

Billboard reported that Bofill passed at age 70, at her daughter's home. The news was shared on her public Facebook page by Bofill's longtime friend and manager Rich Engel.

"On behalf of my dear friend Angie, I am saddened to announce her passing on the morning of June 13th," said Engel.

As of August 3, Bofill's cause of death has not been revealed to her fans; however, People Magazine reported that "the singer had two strokes in 2006 and 2007."

While discussing complications from her stroke, such as learning to walk again and her voice not being quite the same, Bofill still remained positive.

Residents of Alabama who heard Bofill sing can agree that she had a soulful, contemporary voice beyond her years along with being an outstanding songwriter.

    Clive Davis Refuses to Help

During Bofill's musical career, she worked with well-known names such as music executive Clive Davis, as reported by Soul Track.

Sensing a star in the making, Clive Davis and Arista Records bought out Angela’s GRP contract and teamed her with hot writer/producer Narada Michael Walden for Something About You, an attempt at a more straight-ahead pop/soul album.

With Bofill's recent passing, and the family not having $25,000 to bury her properly, Bofill's family decided to reach out to Davis for assistance. The family also started a GoFundMe account for Alabama fans and others to help with memorial expenses.

However, on August 1, the family posted on Bofill's social media that Davis decided not to 'respond' and that the $5,750 collected through the GoFundMe account would be reimbursed to family members to cover hospital expenses.

    The post stated:

Unfortunately, we reached out to folks and were not able to raise the 25k needed for the Angela Bofill memorial planned for late August. Saddened that Clive Davis elected not to respond. The money collected has been used to reimburse the family for substantial hospital bills. If something changes, we will post. In the meantime, and to answer a few comments, we suggest that the extended Angie Facebook family lobby the Grammy Awards Foundation for a lifetime achievement award.

The family also posted that Davis invited Bofill to his 90th birthday party in April 2022, but she couldn't attend due to dialysis.

Briefly reported Davis currently has a net worth of $850 million.
