Good morning campers ! !. Seems appropriate for the time of year. We have one camp behind us and a very hot one. Next up Camp Berry. July has always been a good month to sum up our scouting as we earn merit badges and enjoy a week of summer camp. and then finish up with a picnic and court of honor for ranks and awards for our scouts. If you heard the stories, yes I came down with food poisoning at camp . My hatred of Mac and cheese caused me to have a side of 2 day old potato salad which must have gotten warm during the week while on ice. First in years. Uhg.

$323.8 Million Released for Local Government Infrastructure Projects
$323.8 Million Released for Local Government Infrastructure Projects. (Columbus, Ohio) – The Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) has released project agreements for the most recent annual round of infrastructure funding. These local government projects are selected by the state’s 19 district integrating committees based on a variety of factors including health and safety, age and condition, and number of users. In addition, the committees send unfunded projects belonging to communities of 5,000 or less in population to compete in the OPWC Small Government Program. In total, 564 projects were awarded to communities in all Ohio’s 88 counties for roads ($202.5 million), water supply ($52.8 million), wastewater ($27.7 million), bridges and culverts ($28.3 million), and stormwater ($12.5 million). The entire list of projects by district committee and county may be downloaded here. “We are pleased to announce another round of grants and loans awarded to Ohio’s local governments for needed infrastructure,” said Linda Bailiff, the OPWC Director. “We thank the district committees for their work. This program’s successful partnership between the state and local governments ensures public health and safety and improves the economic welfare of Ohioans.”
Western Lake Erie Algal Bloom Forecast for Summer 2024
NOAA and its research partners are forecasting a moderate to larger-than-moderate harmful algal bloom (HAB) in western Lake Erie this summer. This year’s bloom is expected to measure 5, with a potential range of 4.5-6 on the severity index — similar to last year’s bloom, which had a severity index of 5.3. An index above 5 indicates more severe HABs. Blooms over 7.5 are particularly severe, with extensive scum formation and coverage affecting the lake. The largest HABs occurred in 2011, with a severity index of 10, and 2015, with a severity index of 10.5.

On July 19 at 6:00PM the Wood County Museum is hosting an in-person summer “Margaritaville” themed fundraising event. Tickets start at $60 for museum members & $65 for non-members.
