by Darcy Reese Choral Director 6th-12th grades Thief River Falls It’s time to break out of the house and hear some spectacular vocal music! The annual “Music Matters” show will be performed in the LHS Commons on Sunday night, March 17. The date has been changed from Monday the 18th to Sunday, the 17th, due to a family reason with Mrs. Reese … a fifth grandchild arriving! The performers include the Lincoln High School Vocal Inferno Jazz Singers, the Franklin Middle School Sunrise Singers and various top-notch vocal soloists from eighth through 12th grade. Soloists include Olivia Wojahn, Spencer Hempel, Gretta Grzadzielewski, Emma Westerman, Tallon Vorderbruggen, Javyn Eidelbes, Odin Mooney, Landen Chute, Kale Farbo, Angela Li, and Curtis Griffin. Accompanying the singers will be choir alum (2015) Aaron Fagerstrom on keyboard. Aaron has also arranged many of the instrumental tracks for the various performers. This performance is a fundraiser to help defray the cost of the upcoming LHS 2024 May choir production titled “Looking Back to Move Forward…the Final Chapter.” Tickets for general seating in the LHS Commons will be sold at door #1 at LHS starting at 6:45 p.m. the night of the performance. Tickets are $15 per person at the door. The performance will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. Bring a friend and enjoy the show! We ask that all concertgoers be old enough to sit quietly for an hour and twenty-minute show. The performance will be recorded. Because of recent budget cuts, this will be the last Music Matters show ever to be held in our school district. The two groups that were completely cut are the FMS Sunrise Singers that started in the late 1970s and LHS Vocal Inferno (aka Swingsations) that was started in 1987 by Mrs. Reese. These two music ensembles are the two extra-curricular groups that the LHS Choral Department offers to the best of the best vocalists in the school district. Each singer has put in many hours of rehearsing to bring you their final show. They are very proud of their musical efforts as is Reese. We hope you can come out and show your support for these young performers.
