NEW DETAILS: Thomasville teen killed in Leon County crash Wednesday afternoon

UPDATE 5:30 P.M.

Florida Highway Patrol confirmed a 19-year-old man from Thomasville died in a crash near the Florida-Georgia line on Thomasville Road Wednesday afternoon. In the FHP report, FHP said the man was traveling northbound in a car on Thomasville Road.

Near Cherokee Plantation Road, the vehicle traveled onto the median and up an embankment. The vehicle overturned and landed on its roof in the left travel lane of Thomasville Road.

The vehicle came to final rest on the left travel lane upright facing southwest. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the FHP report.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff, Fire Rescue, and FDOT.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Leon County Sheriff's Office said Thomasville Road northbound at Cherokee Plantation Road is closed due to a traffic crash. The crash involves at least one fatality according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident map.

FHP said they were dispatched to the crash at 2:38 p.m. and arrived on scene 2:50 p.m.

Leon County Sheriff's Office said they'll send an update when the road is open again.
