School resource officers will be in every Metro Nashville middle and high school
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - School starts next week for Metro Nashville Public School (MNPS) students and safety measures are in place to ensure students and staff are safe. For the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, two school resource officers will be in all 16 MNPS high schools. One SRO will be in all 30 MNPS middle schools.

Nashville Police Internal Affairs Chief Replaced Amid Outside Investigation
The longtime director of the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability, Kathy Morante, has been replaced. The leadership shakeup comes less than two months after a former lieutenant with the internal affairs unit came forward with myriad allegations of improper and unfair conduct by top department officials. Metro has hired former U.S. attorney Ed Stanton to lead an investigation into those claims.

DUI: Michael Sampson jailed after 5 car crash, refuses to test his blood because it’s “dirty”
39-year-old Michael Sampson was caught driving under the influence after a car accident near Taco Johns on Fort Campbell Boulevard on July 20th. Officers arrived at the scene and observed at least five vehicles involved in the crash. They spoke with Sampson, the driver of one of the vehicles, and noticed the smell of alcohol on his person. Officers then noticed Sampson had slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

Murfreesboro Restaurant Agrees to Pay $352K to Settle Allegations for Violating Disabilities Act
July 30, 2024 – United States Attorney Henry C. Leventis for the Middle District of Tennessee announced Tuesday that the United States has reached an agreement with Good Times Restaurants, Inc. to resolve allegations that it violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). Good Times is alleged to have denied service to a group of children who use wheelchairs and their parents who were in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to attend a youth wheelchair basketball tournament. As part of the settlement, Good Times has agreed to pay eight families a sum of $34,000 each, and a civil penalty of $80,000, for a total settlement payment of $352,000.
Walker Hayes To Lead Mental Health Initiative Nashville Benefit.
Walker Hayes, Kylie Morgan and Zandi Holup will perform at Mental Health Initiative’s second annual “Healing Through Songs” on Sept. 10 at Nashville’s Riverside Revival. The acoustic songwriters round will be complemented by an online auction featuring unique experiences and memorabilia from Brad Paisley, HARDY, Weezer, Train and Green Day. Proceeds benefit MHI’s mission of helping individuals experiencing severe and recurring mental health challenges through three programs: financial assistance, education, and advocacy.
