‘Women Vote Early’ rally energizes Davidson County
NASHVILLE, TN — The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Nashville Chapter, in partnership with 23 local organizations, held a highly energizing Women Vote Early event July 20 at the Metro Office Building. The goal of the event was to encourage women to participate in early voting for the upcoming Davidson County election.
Strobel House: Turning housing into homes
NASHVILLE, TN — Among applause and celebration, Nashville welcomed the opening Davidson County’s first publicly developed permanent supportive housing project last week. Strobel House, located at 110 Jo Johnson Avenue, is open and accepting applications from unhoused individuals looking for physical, mental and emotional support. The furnished, modern-looking building currently offers a total of 90 individual living spaces. These living spaces are complete with a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. Many of the people who took part in the construction or funding of the building were in attendance during the opening day ceremony, as well as many of those who will be operating Strobel House’s facilities and services that will be made available to the formally unhoused, including Office of Homeless Services Director April Calvin.
Judge denies lowering bond for dad of 3-year-old shot, killed at Nashville apartment
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The father of the 3-year-old who was shot and killed appeared in a court hearing on Thursday. D’Andre Pruitt, 23, is facing charges of reckless homicide and child neglect. Metro Nashville police said his son was playing with a gun when it went off, killing him.
Vanderbilt football sees first returns from new strength and conditioning program on Day 1 of fall camp
Throughout this offseason, Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea and others around the program spoke openly about their belief that new strength and conditioning coach Robert Stiner had vastly improved the Commodores' weight-training regimen.
