Brush fire in Thousand Oaks forces evacuation warnings

A brush fire in Thousand Oaks threatened structures and prompted evacuation warnings Saturday.
The “View Fire” was reported near Lawrence Drive and Ventu Park Road in the Newbury Park neighborhood, nestled north of the 101 Freeway and west of the 23 in Ventura County.
The evacuation warnings, which were issued at 2:30 p.m., were lifted at around 5:30 p.m. for these areas:
Calle Brusca
Camino Dos Rios
Select homes near Arroyo View Street
At the time, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office advised residents to be prepared to evacuate immediately if necessary.

By 3:20 p.m., the fire was spread across half an acre. By 8 p.m., the blaze grew to around 14.2 acres and remained at 0% containment.
Fire crews are working into the night to extinguish the flames. The cause remains under investigation.
