If the bill becomes law, Michigan would no longer be the only state in the U.S. where the governor’s office is exempt from Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Only one other state exempts lawmakers from FOIA requests.

Fireworks combined with a warm and humid airmass led to unhealthy air quality for locations in Michigan last night. Similar conditions are expected again tonight. Last night, an abundance of fireworks were set off throughout the state to celebrate the July 4 holiday. This occurred during a temperature inversion, which is when the temperature increases with height. This usually occurs at night and is called a radiation inversion. Temperature inversions act as a lid on the atmosphere, trapping whatever is underneath it at the surface. Little to no mixing can occur while there is an inversion.

Fourth of July fireworks contributing to heavy fog in bypass crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --Fireworks could be heard across Michiana Thursday night in celebration of Independence Day, but when the smoke from those fireworks mixed with the humid, foggy air along the US 20 bypass, the low visibility led to an almost 15 car pile-up. Meteorologist Nathan Marsili from the National Weather Service (NWS) explained that the firework smoke and humidity caused from rainfall in Elkhart County created something called an inversion in the atmosphere.
