    Harbor Beach City Council Approves Major Equipment Purchases and Bids at July Meeting

    Harbor Beach, MI - July 1, 2024The Harbor Beach City Council convened for its regular meeting on July 1, 2024, with Mayor Kevin Guitar presiding. The meeting, which was held at City Hall, covered a range of financial and operational decisions essential to the city's maintenance and infrastructure.

    Key Equipment Purchases Approved

    The Council took significant steps to enhance the city's Department of Public Works (DPW) by approving the purchase of new equipment. Two resolutions were passed unanimously:

    1. Farmall 75A Tractor Purchase: The Council approved the purchase of a new Farmall 75A Tractor from Osentoski Farm Equipment at a cost of $56,305.00. This decision came after City Manager Wruble placed an ad seeking bids, with the DPW Committee recommending this specific purchase.
    2. Tiger RBF 150 50” Flail Head Mower Purchase: The Council also approved the purchase of a Tiger RBF 150 50” Flail Head Mower, priced at $27,270.00, also from Osentoski Farm Equipment, Inc. The new mower is expected to improve the efficiency of mowing operations throughout the city.

    Sale of New Holland Tractor and Other Approvals

    In addition to purchasing new equipment, the Council finalized the sale of the city's New Holland Tractor. The winning bid of $6,551.00 was awarded to William Volmering, following a motion that passed with unanimous support.

    The Council also approved several payments related to city operations, including:

    • June 2024 Bills: Totaling $208,004.57.
    • Standard Electric Company: $6,178.38.
    • Carol Rental: $4,520.00.
    • Vanerian Painting: $4,549.00.
    • Ferris, Schwedler & O’Mara, P.C.: $1,012.50.
    • Smalley’s Bar & Grill: $122.73 (with one abstention by Council Member Capling).
    • Fahrner Asphalt: $83,334.68.

    Council Appointments and Resignations

    The Council accepted the resignation of Alan Kleinknecht from the Board of Review and moved to appoint Colin Booms as his replacement, both motions passing unanimously.

    Adjournment

    The meeting, efficiently handled by Mayor Guitar, was adjourned at 7:16 p.m., concluding a productive session focused on ensuring the city's equipment and infrastructure are well-maintained and up-to-date.
