Strong Winds and High Waves Batter Lake Superior Beaches

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Marquette County in central Upper Michigan today, warning of dangerous swimming conditions along the Lake Superior shoreline. Strong winds and large waves will persist through this evening, creating high-risk environments for beachgoers. The NWS urges residents and visitors to heed the warnings and stay out of the water.

A Beach Hazards Statement is currently in effect, highlighting the increased dangers from high wave action and strong rip currents, particularly at Middle Bay north of Presque Isle and Little Presque Isle.
