CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An Erie couple accused of an alleged bank scam in Venango County were due in court this morning. Court documents indicate a preliminary hearing was scheduled at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, for 34-year-old Jamario Martin and 35-year-old Teana La Neice Thomas, both of Erie, in Venango County Central Court.
Bridge Lit Fest to enjoy new space for its second year
The Bridge Lit Fest, previously known as the Wildcat Lit Fest, will take place on August 10 at the newly acquired Venango Campus, thanks to the Oil Region Alliance (ORA). This year’s festival will include expanded activities and staff, with writing workshops led by published professionals for writers aged 18 and older. New workshop genres like multi-genre and science fiction and fantasy worldbuilding will be introduced, alongside returning genres such as fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. The event will also feature book vendors, a book sale, meals, a plein air hike or bike ride, and an open mic session. Organizers hope to expand the festival into a two-day event in the future. Registration costs $65, with a reduced fee of $30 for college and trade school students.

NEW BRIGHTON ― A new program promoted by a country music icon is bringing books to Beaver County children starting in August. Representatives for the Beaver County Department of Human Services and The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Beaver County have announced they will officially launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program for children across the region. A part of the Dollywood Foundation nonprofit, the program provides books to young children each month.
