The Lynchburg Little Mustangs placed first in the Class D Jr. Silver Division 2024 District 26 East Region Knothole Tournament. The Lynchburg Little Mustangs are coached by Tim Mock, Seth Partin and Tristen Streetman. The team includes Walter Adams, Charlie Balkema, Oliver Bratton, Bradley Colston, Kayden Moberly, Noah Hurley, Gannon McMullen, Hunter Mock, Liam Ojeda, Landon Partin and Grayson Williams.

Lineburg named new Brookville football coach
Campbell County School Board approved a new head varsity football coach for Brookville High School at their monthly meeting Monday, July 22. Radford High School and Radford University graduate Dr. Mark Lineburg was selected by Brookville principal Christine White to replace Jonathan Meeks to lead the Bees this season. Lineburg leaves his position as assistant superintendent of Birmingham Public Schools near Detroit, Michigan. He was the superintendent in Halifax County until 2021.
Newman and Casey Earn Second Team All-Virginia
Lynchburg, VA – A pair of Lynchburg Women's Soccer upperclassmen earned All-State second team as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Senior, Victoria Newman collected second team All-State this year. Newman was also second team All-ODAC and scored five assists and two goals in 2023. Junior, Haleigh Casey also collected second team All-State. Casey started in all 19 games this past season and assisted on two goals.
Liberty football: our way too early 2024 season projections
It’s never too early to set some expectations. Liberty football finished 13-1 last year, riding a 13-0 start, winning the CUSA title, advancing to the Fiesta Bowl, and securing a third top 25 ranking in four seasons. The Flames are now looking to achieve a sixth straight bowl game and compete for a second straight conference championship while also keeping its eyes on the College Football Playoff.

VHSL state champion Rustburg Track and Field team was recognized at the monthly Campbell County School Board meeting on Monday, July 22. Chairman Barry A. Jones read a proclamation praising the Red Devils for capturing their first state title in track since 1978. Head Coach Gerald Mosley gave the longest speech of the night naming nearly every team member who placed in the state meet at Liberty University where Rustburg finished 23 points ahead of second-place Western Albemarle.
