    Mid-Hudson graduates collect medals at conference track and field championship meets

    Three Varsity 845 graduates posted four top-three medals at the recent Skyline Conference track and field championships in Farmingdale.

    Monroe-Woodbury graduate Faith Welsh, a freshman at Mount Saint Mary, won the javelin at 85 feet, 1 inch.

    Washingtonville grad Emily Schneider, a sophomore at the Mount, won the hammer throw at 118-4. She was also No. 9 in the javelin and No. 11 in the shot put.

    The Mount also got a pair of third-place finishes from Valley Central grad Lindsey Medina – the junior got bronze in the shot put (30-6.25) and hammer (112-9). She also placed No. 10 in the discus and javelin.  Sophomore Kaitlin Hansen, a Port Jervis grad, was ninth in the triple jump.

    In the men’s meet, Monroe-Woodbury grad Adam Stanisz, a junior at Farmingdale, was fourth in the javelin and seventh in the hammer. Fellow MW grad Daniel Baldessare, a sophomore at Manhattanville, was seventh in the 5,000 meters.

    SUNY Delhi won the recent North Atlantic Conference men’s track and field title in Oneonta, with the help of eight Varsity 845 graduates. The Delhi women, with four local grads, placed third.

    Seward grad Ryan Swinea ran on two triumphant relays (400 and 1,600), joining Pine Bush grad JamesMichael Vizzari on the latter. Swinea also placed second in the 200 (22.60) and 400 (50.91) and seventh in the 100. Vizzari was fourth in the 800. Minisink Valley grad Ethan Torres took third in the 200 (23.12) and 400 (51.25), plus ninth in the 100.

    Washingtonville grad Lorenzo Castro was fourth in the 400. Mount Academy grad Nathan Goodwin was fourth in the 5,000 and sixth in the 1,500. Washingtonville grad Derek Leiter was fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase, eighth in the 5,000 and ninth in the triple jump. Valley Central grad Valenick Exantus was No. 10 in the 200 and No. 11 in the 100. Pine Bush grad Jack Mooney was No. 11 in the 110 hurdles and No. 13 in the 400 hurdles.

    The Delhi women won the 400 relay and 1,600 relay with Pine Bush grad Zoe Rodi and Monticello grad Meg Cruz on both foursomes. Rodi won the 400 (58.53) and second in the 200 (25.69). Cruz was sixth in the 200. Newburgh grad Ysani Mayshack was fourth in the 400 and No. 10 in the 200.
