    H.S. Roundup: Nick Werner leads Wyoming Seminary to golf victory

    Nick Werner shot a 5-under 31 as Wyoming Seminary defeated Wilkes-Barre Area 155-182 Tuesday in Wyoming Valley Conference golf at Huntsville Country Club.

    Ayden Wilkinson had a 39, Colin Donovan had a 42 and JP Hay shot a 43 to round out the Blue Knights’ scoring.

    Brady Gerrity had a 39 followed by Aiden Wienich with a 46 for WBA.

    Berwick 159, Hanover Area 216

    The Bulldogs’ Kale Knorr was the medalist with a 38 in a home win. Jackson Matash and Grant Evensen each shot a 40 while Cole Phillips had a 41 for Berwick.

    Jeff Peck led the Hawkeyes with a 42 and was followed by Dylan Martin, Nate Wright and Cam Kratz.

    GIRLS GOLF

    Tunkhannock’s Hallie Brown was the medalist with a 4-over 39 as the Tigers swept a tri-match at Tall Pines Players Club.

    The Tigers finished at 129, defeating Hazleton Area (145) and Elk Lake (169).

    Megan Rickaby had a 44 and Jackie Martin fired a 46 to also figure in the scoring.

    Hazleton Area split its matches as Kayla Wysocky shot a 47 and Gia Rainey and Madision Matteo each added a 49.

    GIRLS TENNIS

    Crestwood 5, Wilkes-Barre Area 0

    Hannah Ziegler and Cameron Carlos won in straight sets without allowing a point to pace Crestwood.

    Ella Richards also posted a singles win for Crestwood. Paicey Clower and Darin Khuseyn won at No. 1 doubles, and Kendall Petrosky and Lucy Malia won at No. 2 doubles.

    Tunkhannock 5, Hanover Area 0

    Molly Keiser, Addy Pineau and Tal Pineau swept the singles competition in straight sets for Tunkhannock.

    Miranda Anderson and Ivy Jayne won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles. Zoe Powers and Sara Appleby did the same at No. 2 doubles.

    FIELD HOCKEY

    Pittston Area 3, Wallenpaupack 2

    Julia Homschek scored off an assist from Maddie Karp as Pittston Area prevailed in overtime.

    Karp forced overtime with a goal with four minutes left in regulation. Kassie Kobi assisted. Karp also scored in the third quarter.

    Mia Russo and Sophia Burbridge had goals for Wallenpaupack.

    Nanticoke Area 3, Hanover Area 2

    Kate Reed scored two goals and assisted Amani Shiloh with another as Nanticoke Area edged Hanover Area.

    Lily Matthews scored off an assist from Krysta Shreve for Hanover Area. She then assisted Olivia Monte with about 12 minutes left in the fourth, but the Hawkeyes couldn’t get a tying goal.

    Holy Redeemer 5, Berwick 0

    Aleese Stair scored three consecutive goals and Katie Schell and Hailey Pius scored in the fourth period as Holy Redeemer shut out Berwick.

    Maddie Miller made five saves to post the shutout.

    Dallas 4, Tunkhannock 0

    Caitlyn Mizzer and Maggie Smith each scored two goals as Dallas shut out Tunkhannock.

    Lacey Youngblood and Alison Lanza added assists for the Mountaineers.

    BOYS SOCCER

    Lake-Lehman 3, Lakeland 1

    The Black Knights scored three times in the second half to erased a halftime deficit.

    Greyson Dieffenbacher scored a goal and assisted Andrew Mathes. Nicco Diana also scored for Lehman.

    Wyo. Valley West 2, Valley View 2

    The Spartans and Cougars couldn’t break the deadlock in two overtime periods.

    Noah Geisinger and Noah Fetko scored for Wyoming Valley West. Aidan Kaminski and Chase Evanoski had assists.

    GIRLS SOCCER

    North Pocono 4, Nanticoke Area 2

    North Pocono scored four second-half goals to defeat Nanticoke Area.

    Kelsey Smith, Maggie Young, Aniya Brago-Jackson and Olivia Charles had the goals for North Pocono.

    Natalee Atkins scored early in the game to give Nanticoke Area a 1-0. Nevaeh Baran added another goal late in the contest.

    Dallas 1, Delaware Valley 1

    Mia DelGaudio scored and Paige Banks came up with 10 saves as the Mountaineers came up with a draw against the Warriors.

    Holy Redeemer 3, Scranton 0

    Abby Williams recorded 12 kills, nine service points and three digs as Redeemer earned a 25-17, 25-12, 25-21 sweep.

    Also leading the way in the win were Anne Carter (5 kills, 7 assists, 4 service points, 1 block), Megan Albrecht (18 assists, 4 kills, 5 digs), Jessica Stochla (3 kills, 9 service points) and Grace Griffin (7 service points, 6 digs).
