Two Rosman High School students died on Aug. 25 in an ATV accident, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jim Conta on Aug. 25.

The two teenagers were traveling southbound on Old Wagon Road near Presley Fields at about 1 a.m. Conta said they ran off the road, struck a tree and were both ejected from the vehicle. He said they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Conta said the accident is an active investigation. He said they don't suspect intoxication at this time. North Carolina State Highway Patrol believes excessive speed was the underlying cause of the accident.

Brandy O'Shields confirmed to the Hendersonville Times-News that her son Jayden Reynaldo, 16, was one of the students in the ATV accident.

Rosman High School confirmed Monday morning that Layne Jones was also in the accident.
