    Hey Muskingum County: Here’s what you need to know to start your week

    ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Times Recorder received three awards from the recently held Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Awards for work published in 2023. Reporter Sam Blackburn earned second place for best business writer, first place for best sports columnist and third place for best sports feature writer.

    COLUMBUS − The Ohio Arts Council recently awarded $22.7 million in grants to support artists, non-profits, arts and cultural organizations, students and educators and public arts programming. This included sustainability grants of $4,250 to Big Fish Folklife in New Concord, $3,893 to the Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds in New Concord, $5,477 to the Summer High School Theater Music Camp at Muskingum University in New Concord and $33,944 to the Zanesville Museum of Art. In Perry County, sustainability grants were $5,887 to the Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council in New Straitsville and $6,164 to the Somerset Artists Co-Op.

    ZANESVILLE − Judi Denny celebrated her birthday on July 28. Cards can be sent in her name to Cedar Hill Care Center, 1136 Adair Ave.
