    Hey Muskingum County: Here’s what you need to know to start your week

    ZANESVILLE − The Ohio Department of Transportation has scheduled a 90-day closure of the Underwood Street I-70 on ramp, beginning on Aug. 18.

    ZANESVILLE − A party to show appreciation for Jim Watson, owner of The Barn, for his support of the community and local musicians will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at The Barn, 1947 Linden Ave. Performing will be Git Shorty, Steve Spires, Brandon Middleton, Greg Combs, Brian Spires, Jay Bond, Paul Quinn and Mark Burkholte, along with other musicians.

    ZANESVILLE − Sonora Road will be closed from Norfield Road to Boggs Road from Aug. 19 to 24 for work on the railroad crossing, just north of AutoZone.

    NEW CONCORD − East Muskingum Local Schools Board of Education will meet in special session at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at John Glenn High School. The purpose is hiring of personnel.

    SOUTH ZANESVILLE − The Village of South Zanesville will have a special council meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 in council chambers, 24 E. Main St. Purpose will be approving a resolution to apply for a grant to pay for repair of a culvert bridge on South Avenue and an ordinance revising appropriations.

    ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 21 at the Welcome Center, 205 N. Fifth St.

    ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Concert Association will kick its 85th season from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug 24. Five concerts for the coming season will be held at Secrest Auditorium along with five concerts in Mount Vernon ZCA season members can attend. The kick off will also include Whacky Zacky the Clown, Kona Ice, books and special activities from the Muskingum County Library System and live music from the Zanesville Memorial Dixieland Band, Dr. Laura Schuman with a surprise guest and Steve Spires Band.

    ZANESVILLE Genesis HealthCare System recently received the American Heart Association's Get with the Guidelines Resuscitation Gold Award for the eighth consecutive year. The honor recognizes Genesis for consistently implementing the most up-to-date research-based treatment guidelines outlined by AHA for patients who suffer cardiac arrests in the hospital. It's based on meeting specific measures in treating patients who suffer cardiac arrests in the hospital. The measures include protocols for patient safety, medical emergency team response, effective and timely resuscitation and post-resuscitation care.
