    Tuesday Roundup: Rosecrans' Maxwell nears milestone

    ZANESVILLE — Rosecrans senior Sydnee Maxwell took a step closer to a career milestone on Tuesday.

    Maxwell reached 99 career goals when she scored off a Maddi Pugh assist in the first half, and the host Bishops made it stand for a 1-0 win over John Glenn at Mattingly Family Field.

    Maxwell will go for her 100th career goal on Saturday at Wellington.

    Coshocton 4, West Muskingum 2 : Zoey Tumblin scored twice in the first half, as Coshocton led 3-0 at the half in a win over the Tornadoes.

    Tumblin opened the scoring four minutes in on an assist by Jersey Stipes. Ava Hall added a goal, knocking in a loose ball after a corner kick then Stipes found Tumblin for another goal with four minutes left in the first half.

    Tumblin finished off her hat trick with another assist by Stipes early in the second half, while Lyla Johnson had both of West M's goals in the second half.

    Freshman Madi MacDonald made 14 saves in her first varsity start for Coshocton.

    Tri-Valley 334, River View 345, Philo 364: RV freshman Gavin Gress dazzled with a 5-under-par 67 for medalist honors, but the Scotties rode four scores in the 80s to earn an MVL trimatch win at Hickory Flats in West Lafayette.

    Gress broke the old school record of 68 held previously by Alex Leray and Gary Wright. Gress also set the nine-hole record of 4-under-par 32, a mark also held by Michael Todd, who shot 4-under 31 at EagleSticks.

    Philo's A.J. Layton added 70 and River View's Caleb Kline 78, but Tri-Valley ruled the rest of the top 10 with Nash Baughman (81), Xander Smalley (84), Jou Chow (84), Cale Preston (85) and Gavin Harrold (86) each breaking 90.

    Josh Gooden added 89 and Tanner Brookover 92 for Philo.

    The Scotties won the 9-hole event on a fifth-man tiebreaker, as they had 171 with River View and Philo scored 172. Gress was the medalist with a 32.

    Crooksville 173, Maysville 174, Coshocton 207: Bo White took medalist honors with a 38 and led the Ceramics to a league tri-meet win at River Greens.

    Briden Hall carded a 43 and Gabe Sandefur and Drew Horn shot 46 for Crooksville; Ethan Wright led the Panthers with a 41, while Slade Shreve chipped in a 42, Hoyt Dodson a 44 and Cade Pickrell and Ian Huff 46s; and Bransyn Dawson had 45, Jerison Spain 48, Zach Fink 51 and Tristan Hartmeyer 63 for Coshocton.

    Sheridan 159, West Muskingum 167, New Lexington 182: The Generals' Noah Wamer claimed medalist honors with a 37 in a MVL tri-meet win at par-35 front nine at Jaycees.

    Wyatt Satterfield added a 38, Owen Cains had a 40 and Camdyn Packer shot 44 for Sheridan; Reid Lemity led the Tornadoes with a 40, while Kyle Porter and Jack Touvell had 42s and Clayton Clewell carded a 43; and New Lex was led by Peyton Everett's 43, while Hunter Heavener had 44, Alijah Cox 46 and Austin Bray 49.

    Strasburg 163, Ridgewood 198: The Tigers' Gage Bonifant shot 38 as medalist in an IVC match at River Greens.

    Drew Lancaster added a 40, Gavin Weaver a 42 and Caden Hutchison a 43 for Strasburg, while Wade Thompson carded a 46, Vince Menapace a 48, Conrad Robinson a 51 and Beau Hardesty a 53 for the Generals.

    Rosecrans 198, Fisher Catholic 221: Medalist Evan Bauer fired a 40 on the par-36 front nine at Valley View for the Bishops.

    Noah Moore and Brennen Talbert added 51s for Rosecrans; Lora Baker led Fisher with a 52.

    Girls golf

    Ridgewood 155, Strasburg 183: Brynn Harstine shot 32 for medalist honors in the Generals' IVC conquest at par-27 Five Waters.

    Jacey Hess and Zoe Martin added 40 and Josie Stanton 43 for Ridgewood.

    Keagyn Kramer's 42 and 43s from Micah Burkhart and Lily Shepler paced the Tigers.

    Boys soccer

    West M 2, Coshocton 0: Gray Knowlton scored twice off assists by Jaxson Prang and Silas Kuhn, powering the Tornadoes to an MVL-Small School win at Stewart Field.

    West hosts St. Clairsville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

    John Glenn 2, River View 2: The visiting Black Bears scored on Hayden Walters' penalty kick with 47 seconds left to salvage a tie in the MVL-Big School Division.

    Will Nicolozakes' goal for John Glenn tied the match at 1 in the second half. The Muskies added another with 2:05 left to take a 2-1 lead.

    Cash Guilliams also scored off a cross from Cameron Murphy for River View's other goal, while Dane McGee had an assist for the Muskies.

    Layton Massie made six saves in the goal for River View.

    Morgan 5, Philo 1: After a scoreless first half, the Electrics (2-3-1, 2-3) scored in the 33rd minute of the second half then the Raiders (4-3-1, 3-2) rattled off five unanswered in the win.

    Cole McGill, Grady Smith, Brylee Shannon and Tavian Myers had goals, Braylon Miller chipped in a goal and an assist and Bradley Spencer also assisted a goal for Morgan.

    Tri-Valley 6, Sheridan 1: Yuvi Bastola scored four goals and assisted another in the Scotties' win over the Generals.

    Chance Storer also kicked two goals and Cris Carpenter added an assist for Tri-Valley, while Lincoln Rhodes made six stops.

    Nick Stirk converted a penalty kick for Sheridan's goal.

    Maysville 12, New Lexington 0: The host Panthers scored five times in the first five minutes in an MVL runaway in Newton Township.

    Wyatt Mynes scored five times and assisted on a goal and Cam Parker added four scores and five assists; Alex Combs had two goals and Carson Shockley two assists for the winners.

    Maysville improved to 5-1-1 and travels to Baltimore Liberty Union on Thursday.

    Dover 6, Rosecrans 0

    Volleyball

    New Lexington 3, Crooksville 0: Jorja Buckhart eclipsed 1,000 career assists in the Panthers' 25-15, 25-10, 25-15 win in an MVL-Small School conquest against the visiting Ceramics.

    Chloe Dick added 11 kills and Lena Finck and Korynn McIntyre six for New Lex; Burkhart also had four digs.

    Maelee Collins' 19 digs and Brynn Lundell's three kills and 10 digs led Crooksville.

    Sheridan 3, John Glenn 0: Ava Heller collected nine kills, 12 digs and four aces and was 13-of-13 serving, as the Generals topped the Muskies 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 in Big School play.

    Payton Powell chipped in 11 digs, six kills and two blocks, Dylan Fox totaled 23 assists, 11 digs and four kills and went 16-of-16 serving with three aces and Josie Ramey had seven kills and four digs for Sheridan.

    Lauren Blair passed out 18 assists with three aces and three digs, Faith Saxton hit seven kills, Ava Harmon added five kills, Mya Stamm tallied five kills, five digs and two blocks, Sophia Markel served four aces with eight digs and Karleigh Webster made seven digs for John Glenn.

    Meadowbrook 3, Maysville 0: Katie Stoney had 11 kills, Natalee Norman hit seven kills and served five aces in the Colts' sweep

    Addy Sichina set up 25 assists, Journey Nicola made 14 digs and Sommer Ginn chipped in eight digs and four aces in the win.

    Buckeye Trail 3, East Canton 0: The Warriors improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season with the 25-5, 25-10, 25-9 sweep over the host Hornets in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball Tuesday.

    Anna McVicker enjoyed a big night to lead the Warriors' effort, finishing with 24 points, including a total of 18 aces. McVicker also added 15 assists, six digs, three saves, two kills. Kayla Hinkle chipped in with 13 points, six aces, three kills, while Vayda Neuhart contributed nine points, three digs, five kills. Sydney Patterson tallied eight points, two aces with eight digs, two assists, one kill.

    River View 3, Morgan 0: Haley Balo tallied eight aces with 11 kills and Ava Donnell added eight kills to pace the host Lady Bears to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 win in an MVL-Big School match in Warsaw.

    Lindyn Fry added three aces, Layla Olinger and Avie Wright six kills and Kelsie Smith surpassed 1,000 career assists with 34 for River View (5-5, 4-1 MVL-Big).

    Allia Rush totaled eight kills, Haven Cook and Kaidence Searl five and Paige Lanning 22 assists for Morgan. Searl also had 12 digs.

    Tri-Valley 3, Philo 0: Reese Lamonica had 10 kills and Annika Collet nine for the host Dawgs in an MVL-Big School clash in Dresden.

    Emma Smith added five blocks, Olivia Reffitt 13 digs and Cali Berry nine; Haley Moore and Ingrid Dittmar combined for 23 assists.

    Ava White's nine kills with three aces and Aleigha Busse's 17 digs paced Philo. Hali Harris added 11 assists.

    Coshocton 3, West M 0: Lacey Guthrie pounded out 15 kills with four digs and Lilah Laaper collected 32 assists with four aces for Coshocton, which emerged with a 25-10, 25-7, 25-13 win in an MVL-Small School win in Falls Township.

    Kenedi Jackson chipped in four aces, six kills and 11 digs and Saige Abbott five kills with 10 digs for the winners, who had 34 total kills.

    Ridgewood 3, Sandy Valley 1: Anyssa Cutlip piled up 18 kills, seven aces and 18 points for the Generals in a 25-17, 17-25, 25-19. 25-17 win against the host Cardinals in an Inter-Valley Conference match.

    Maggie Shannon added four aces, 10 points and nine digs for the Generals (4-2), who improved to 3-1 in conference play.

    Cross country

    Ridgewood sweeps Indian Valley: The Generals topped the Braves 23-32 and the boys picked up a 26-29 win, while Newcomerstown had individuals competing in the IVC triangular.

    Ridgewood's Kenzie Bice won the girls race in 21:38, while Trenton Wright of Newcomerstown won the boys race in 18:42 and Aydan Salmon from Ridgewood placed third (19:15).

    Girls tennis

    Cambridge 3, Claymont 2: The host Bobcats slipped past the Mustangs in girls tennis action at Cambridge City Park on Tuesday afternoon.

    Cambridge's Miranda Cole collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Madelyn Dean at first single, while teammate Emma Krise followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win in second singles over Brittanie Connor. Claymont's Brinley Poland upended Madi Peebles in third singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

    The Bobcats first doubles team of Selina Garcia and Reese Antill defeated Malaika Douglas and Maegan Douglas 6-2, 6-3 to secure the victory. In second dubs the CHS duo of Kilee Jeffrey and MJ Lamphear suffered a 6-2, 6-1 setback to Claymont's team of Ashley Yang and Danika Ledford.

    Cambridge hosts Dover Wednesday at 4:30

    Girls soccer (Labor Day Showcase)

    Tri-Valley 4, Wooster 3: Zoey White knocked in a pair of goals in the Scotties' win over the Generals.

    Nevaeh Peffers and Caydee Shoenleben added a goal and an assist apiece, and Kenzie Harvey had five saves in goal for Tri-Valley (4-0-2).
