The 34th road fatality of 2024 in Troop E was recorded Saturday afternoon after a two-car crash that killed a Pineville man, according to Louisiana State Police. Oddis L. Dunbar Jr., 69, died at the scene of the crash on La. Highway 3170, the road that runs between U.S. Highway 71 and La. Highway 1 by Louisiana State University at Alexandria.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has wrapped up its inquiry into the officer-involved shooting incident from May 14, with a Pineville police officer. According to the department's statement, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit, which carried out the investigation of any possible criminal elements of the incident, deemed the shooting justified, and hence, no charges will be filed against the officer.
