SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL) will be bringing classic stories to life at libraries across the Southern Tier this summer.
Stories with Music is a free educational concert series that promotes literacy to children by connecting music and literature. During this series, three groups of OSFL musicians will play live music to featured storybooks at libraries around Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, and Tioga, New York, counties in July and August.
The Brass Quintet will play trumpets, a horn, a trombone, and a tuba to “Pinocchio” and narrate the story, and the String Duo will tell “Scottish Fairy Tales, Myths, and Legends” while playing the cello and harp. Storied Winds will narrate “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Three Billy Goats Gruff” while playing the oboe, bassoon, and horn.
