Warsaw Code Enforcement Continues A Number Of Cases
Seven cases were continued at the Warsaw code enforcement hearing Tuesday. Cathy Wade provided an update on a house at 815 E. Clark St. Building Inspector Robert Hurford did an inspection on Monday, and the bathroom was not finished; however, Wade stated that later that night, the bathroom was completed. She provided photos of the water running. Wade stated that an obstacle to completing the updates was that NIPSCO projected it would take up to six weeks to install a gas meter. Gas is needed for her hot water heater and gas stove.

MILFORD — Part of U.S. 6 east of SR 15 will be closed for about a week for railroad crossing construction. The closing stretches from State Road 15 and C.R. 23. The closing is expected to begin around July 29, and all work is weather-dependent. according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Warsaw BZA Approves Variance For Smaller Setback
With a neighbor’s concern about traffic line of sight addressed, the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved a variance Monday for a smaller yard setback. Mike Cayten requested a variance from development standards to allow a smaller-than-permitted side yard setback at 15 feet at 2432 Sally St., Warsaw. The building setback that is platted for this subdivision specifically is 30 feet, Assistant City Planner Jackson Longenbaugh told the board. Cayten wants to add garage space for hobby and storage space.

Marshall County Election Board Approves Vote Center Location Change in Bremen
The Marshall County Election Board members agreed last week to change the location of one of the Bremen Vote Center sites. Marshall County Clerk Jenny Bennitt explained to the board members that Bremen Public School Superintendent Dr. Jim White asked the board to move the site from the Bremen High School as he was approached by some concerned parents citing student security and safety. While the school system has had a lengthy, positive partnership with the Marshall County Election Board in allowing the elections to be held at the school, which gives students exposure to that aspect of the government process, it is the opinion of the school to elect to move the Vote Center to another site.

Plymouth Redevelopment Considers Investment in Career Innovation Center
The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission will look at an investment in a Marshall County Lifelong Learning Network project in their next meeting. Construction is underway on the Marshall County Career Innovation Center and while the capital funding required for the bricks and mortar has been secured, Allie Shook, Executive Director of LLN, came before the board seeking support for the “soft costs”, such as furnishings for the building. Shook presented a proposal for $250,000 toward lab tables, chairs, television monitors, and some specialty items such as refrigerators for medication in the veterinary science area.
