Southeast Wisconsin weather: Hot and humid stretch ahead

    By Kristen Kirchhaine,

A warm night is ahead with lakeside lows in the upper 60s, inland lows will be a little cooler, in the low to mid-60s. There is a slight chance for a few showers/rumbles of thunder across SW Wisconsin tonight, and an isolated shower may reach SE Wisconsin by daybreak on Sunday. Morning cloud cover gives way to a partly cloudy sky and very warm day Sunday. Near the lake, highs will be in the mid to upper 80s and inland highs will reach the low 90s. With dew points climbing into the 70s, it will make temperatures feel like 90-95 in the afternoon. Be sure to take it easy if you've got outdoor plans, take breaks to cool off and stay hydrated.

The heat and humidity peak on Monday and Tuesday. Heat index values will range from 95-105° in the afternoons. The overnights will remain warm as well, not allowing much chance to cool off. In addition, with lots of heat and humidity around, we will build instability, which gives us an environment that can support storms. However, there is poor agreement on how storm chances may play out, as far as timing and placement. For now, know that storms are possible across Wisconsin early to mid-week, stay tuned for updates and stay weather aware.

It looks like temperatures and humidity will drop slightly mid to late this coming week.
