Waukesha Police said one person is dead and another arrested after a significant police presence near Garfield Avenue and Douglas Avenue Sunday night, Aug. 25.

Neighbors told TMJ4 they saw police respond to the area around 9 p.m.

TMJ4 crews on the scene heard Waukesha Police communicating with a person inside a home on the block. The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office also told neighbors to shelter in place.

Shortly before midnight, TMJ4 crews saw police remove someone from the home.

Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann said a suspect is alive and in custody. They were apprehended by a dog bite.

Baumann also said that one person died.

TMJ4 reached out to Waukesha Police for more information on what led to the police response.

    This is a developing story.
