JASPER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD JULY MEETING RECAP (07/16/2024)
(NEWTON) The Jasper County School Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting in Newton last night. The Board : approved the payment of all bills as presented : approved the Energy Transition Community Grant for the 2024-2025 school year – a part of the funds will be used for architect fees for a new building addition at Newton Elementary School (2027) with the other grant monies going for roof replacement work at Newton Elementary School (2025) : agreed to purchase a used SUV for District use : approved the District’s Workers Compensation and Property & Casualty Insurance renewals for the 2024-2025 school year : approved the IESA Cooperative Agreement between the Jasper County Junior High School and the St. Thomas Catholic School for girls softball, boys & girls cross country, and girls basketball for the next two school years : approved the ERBA Head Start agreement for the 2024-2025 school year : approved the Title I Schoolwide Plans for all the District Schools : agreed to seek bids for seven new buses and one new mini-bus for the 2025-2026 school year : and in personnel matters – approved the resignation from NES P.E. Teacher Darla Mahaffey – agreed to hire five people for the 2024-2025 school year : Josie Meinhart as NES P.E. Teacher, Courtney Klier as NES Full-Time Substitute Teacher, Valerie Sanguinetti as NCHS Junior Class Sponsor, Dan Blankenship as NCHS FBLA Sponsor, and Rebecca Kocher as a Lunchroom Supervisor/Paraprofessional/Custodian/Bus Chaperone : the next regular monthly meeting for the Jasper County School Board will be August 19th.
