As a Midwesterner I appreciate all four seasons of the year, in fact the one year of my life that I lived in L.A. and didn't have seasons was one of my least favorites! We need the seasons so we know when to double our ice cream intake.

Average Joe gives a shoutout to all the summer sports parents
CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Summer is here, and with it comes the summer sports season. With the emergence of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and travel ball (though I’m not entirely sure I understand the difference), the parents of our young athletes are demonstrating unparalleled dedication. They attend not just local events but also travel across the country with gear galore to support their children’s passion for sports.

Duck Dive: Illinois Football 2024 Preview
Special thanks to Steve Braun of Off-Tackle Empire and The Champaign Room for joining me on the Quack 12 Podcast to discuss Illinois’ roster. LISTEN HERE. Illinois’ record is 147-229-2 (39.2%) in the 32 seasons since John Mackovic left to become Texas’ head coach after 1991, only nine of which have winning records and just two with more than eight wins. The Illini have fired each of their six succeeding football coaches (not counting interims) and are on their seventh, head coach Bielema, who has been in charge for each of the three seasons I charted for this project.
“Best Of” Winter Sports-Boys Basketball Team of the Year
Our “Best Of” Winter Sports Boys Basketball Team of the Year for the 2023-24 School Sports Season is the Altamont Indians. Coach Niebrugge’s Indians put together another solid season as they went 21-9 overall and 7-1 in the NTC, with their only loss in conference to St. Anthony. It was Altamont’s second year in a row with a talented Senior group. But, some of the Seniors on the ’23-’24 season hadn’t had a chance to shine with a very deep class in front of them. And, that led to some players stepping up with very solid years for the Indians. The Altamont Indians have went a combined 76-21 in their last 3 seasons.
