Governor Greg Abbott has faced much criticism from political leaders and the media. Despite this, several States started to copy his actions.

Two years ago, President Joe Biden started to rebuild Arizona walls along its southern border with Mexico as illegal immigrants were flooding the State. When Biden came into office, he stopped building the walls that Donald Trump started.

Governor Abbott had already started building the Texas wall.

Iowa passes law to arrest illegal immigrants

On April 11, Iowa copies a Texas law to arrest illegal immigrants in its State. The U.S. Supreme Court approved the law but last month U.S. District Judge David Ezra blocked the bill from going into effect according to The Texas Tribune.

Now Iowa copies the law directed toward illegal immigrants in its own State.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said in a statement according to CBS News:

"The Biden Administration has failed to enforce our nation's immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk."
“This bill gives Iowa law enforcement the power to do what he is unwilling to do: enforce immigration laws already on the books."

Louisiana proposes bill to arrest illegal immigrants

Though Louisiana does not share the southern border like Texas, the State had about 70,000 undocumented immigrants in 2019 according to The Migration Policy Insitute.

This past Monday, April 8, the Louisiana Senate voted 28-11 to arrest any person who illegally enters the State according to WNG.

A decision on the immigration bill in Texas could determine how these laws are recognized in Iowa and Louisiana.
