While former President Donald Trump is still the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis believes Trump can't win the presidency.

Trump seems to be stuck in 2020, seeking revenge for the catastrophic loss. DeSantis keeps pleading with the Republicans to resist the temptation of refighting 2020 and instead focus on the road ahead.

DeSantis asserts in early voting areas that any attention other than on defeating President Joe Biden would be disastrous for his party, despite his recent refutation of the erroneous predictions about the 2020 race at the center of Trump's criminal prosecution.

DeSantis promoted his recent record in Florida, which included conservative views on gender, abortion, education, and a similar GOP agenda for the country.

When DeSantis announced that he would declare a national emergency and send the military to the border with Mexico as soon as he took office, he garnered cheers for his support of the balanced budget amendment and term limits for Congress.

His efforts to advance the party contrasted sharply with the Trump campaign's online attack ad against Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, who oversaw the investigation that resulted in an indictment accusing Trump of four felonies in connection with his bid to overturn his 2020 election loss.

Conspiracy to defraud the government of the United States of America and obstruction of justice are among the charges.

Trump has been bragging about the indictment's value as a political tool.

"One more indictment, and this election is closed out. Nobody has even a chance," Trump said.

DeSantis has become more comfortable discussing Trump's defeat and his shortcoming recently.

Trump still has an impressive support base, which keeps on growing with each indictment. The former president is the master of public narrative and knows how to hijack national attention. DeSantis is barely playing Trump's shadow at this point.

He denounced the "weaponization" of government organizations, a term that appeals to Republicans who agree that the Justice Department has persecuted Trump.

Do you think Republicans need to continue refighting the 2020 elections?
