Former President Donald Trump's legal headaches only keep getting worse.

A court document revealed that Twitter took some time to comply with a search order obtained by the US special counsel looking into Donald Trump's business dealings.

The petition revealed that a federal judge found Twitter in contempt and fined it $350,000 due to the delay in compliance.

According to the document, the US special counsel Jack Smith's team obtained a search warrant in January. The warrant urged Twitter, which recently changed its name to X, to provide "data and records" about Trump's Twitter account.

However, a non-disclosure agreement banned Twitter from disclosing the search warrant.

    Trump's involvement makes matters worse

According to the document, prosecutors were granted a search warrant after a judge "found probable cause to search the Twitter account for evidence of criminal offenses." The judge determined that if the warrant were made public, Trump's involvement "would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation."

What details Smith might have looked for on Trump's Twitter account are unknown.

Information about the postings' publication dates and locations, their audience size, and the identities of other accounts that republished Trump's comments are all potential sources of information.

According to the decision, Twitter objected to the non-disclosure agreement and said it would not provide any account information four days after the compliance date.

In an unsealed criminal indictment last week, Smith accused Trump of attempting to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election to maintain his position of power.

    The allegations against Trump include:

    • Conspiracy to defraud the United States
    • Conspiracy to impede an official proceeding
    • An attempt to obstruct an official proceeding
    • Conspiracy against rights
    • And more.

Trump has entered a not-guilty plea to all of the counts.

Do you think Trump should be cleared of all charges?
