Former President Donald Trump's surrender nears as election scandal indictment is revealed.

According to a senior law enforcement official, Trump is anticipated to surrender himself to the Fulton County jail at the end of the week.

Trump and 18 other defendants were accused of participating in a scheme to rig Georgia's 2020 election results.

The 41-count indictment was unsealed, and Fulton County Willis gave Trump and co-defendants until August 25 to turn themselves in.

Before the surrender date, discussions between Trump's attorneys and Willis' prosecutors are expected to last into the following week.

The precise timing of Trump’s surrender has not yet been disclosed.

Trump's anticipated surrender in Georgia will happen the same week as the first Republican presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle.

Trump currently faces 91 counts across four criminal cases.

Trump’s Georgia surrender and arraignment are expected to differ from those in his previous three felony prosecutions.

According to Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat, Trump and the other individuals charged in the indictment will be treated like any other defendant.

This could imply that the former president and his co-defendants would have their mugshots taken and be fingerprinted.

In the indictment, Trump is charged with being the leader of a "criminal enterprise" that was part of a larger plot to avenge his election loss in 2020.

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani are among the defendants in the Georgia indictment.

According to a US Secret Service spokeswoman, the USSS has been on-site at the Fulton County Jail for the past few weeks alongside the Fulton County Sheriff's Department and the city of Atlanta preparing for Trump's surrender.

How might former President Trump's surrender in the Georgia indictment case influence his role in the 2024 election? Share your insights!
