Topeka law enforcement reporting technical difficulties

Update 7:31 a.m.: The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center is reporting technical issues in connection to the global cyber outage.

“At this time our center is running normally. 911, non-emergency, and our internal operating systems are functioning appropriately,” the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center reported on social media.

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and the Topeka Police Department are facing technical difficulties Friday morning.

At 6:02 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office reported on social media that its Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center was facing technical difficulties.

At 5:25 a.m., 540 flights in the USA were canceled after a worldwide Microsoft and Crowdstrike outage. Systems worldwide are now being affected. Worldwide, there are reports of major issues in hospitals, 911 call centers, airports, ports, and more.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack. The company said the problem happened when a faulty update was sent to computers running Microsoft Windows.
