A man and a woman on a motorcycle died late Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash also involving an SUV at S.W. 10th and Fairlawn Road.

Motorcycle driver Noah T. Lawler, 19, and his passenger, Ava R. Jordan, 20, died in the crash, Shawnee County Sheriff Brian C. Hill said Sunday afternoon.

Three juveniles, who had been in the other vehicle, suffered injuries and were taken by American Medical Response ambulance to a hospital, Hill said in a news release late Saturday. Their names, ages, genders and information about their conditions weren’t being made public.

Law enforcement officers, firefighters and ambulance workers were called at 11:54 a.m. Saturday to the crash scene, Hill said.

Investigators determined the motorcycle and a Chrysler Voyager collided as the motorcycle was northbound on S.W. Fairlawn and the driver of the Voyager was southbound on S.W. Fairlawn turning east onto S.W. 10th, he said.

Circumstances of the crash remained under investigation, Hill said.

The Topeka Police Department and Topeka Fire Department assisted at the scene, he said.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the sheriff’s office was investigating the crash instead of the police department. The Topeka Police Department generally investigates crashes that occur within city limits.

No further details were being made public.
