    USD 501 teachers take to learning in the classroom

    TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Some local teachers are finding themselves on the other side of the classroom.

    USD 501 in Topeka is hosting new teachers and staff members for training this week. The training is focusing on empowering educators, the community, collaboration, innovative training and hearing personal stories from their peers.

    “A big theme that I’m feeling this week is building meaningful connections with students,” Maesey Meier, a second grade teacher at Ross Elementary said.”So I’m really excited to get ideas for how to connect with students every day in meaningful ways.”

    Topeka students return to school on Aug. 12 and 13 .
