Keanu Reeves may not get cold feet filming difficult scenes, but a recent incident on set has definitely put the Hollywood veteran on ice. In a recent interview, the actor discussed breaking his knee while on the set of his upcoming comedy movie Good Fortune. Despite his injury, Reeves remains in good spirits and has been able to complete most of his scenes in the new movie. Still, it's worth diving into the story of his injury and his new movie.

Keanu Reeves' Injury On Set

Reeves was a recent guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his new book, The Book of Elsewhere. During the interview, he told Stephen Colbert that after filming a cold plunge scene in Good Fortune, the shivering shuffle he made back to his dressing room caused the actor to trip and crack his knee "like a potato chip." He said his shuffling caused his foot to get caught in a pocket of the rug; when his body went down, his knee "didn't follow."

Reeves explained that he didn't know the extent of his knee injury until the news of it began to "blow up" following the spill. He was spotted using crutches back in January during principal photography for Good Fortune. Director Aziz Ansari, who co-stars, confirmed Reeve's injury when he appeared at CinemaCon later that April. He noted that Reeves was in good spirits throughout the ordeal and was still able to film most of his scenes without issue. Ansari did say that at the time production had to wait for The Matrix star to heal before filming a salsa dancing sequence. Reeves, who reportedly did 90% of his own stunts in the John Wick movies, told Colbert, "Comedy's hard, man."

Keanu Reeves' Upcoming Film Good Fortune

The plot of Good Fortune reads part Freaky Friday, part It's a Wonderful Life. Events backfire for a guardian angel (Reeves) when his attempts to show a down-and-out man (Ansari) that his problems can't be solved with wealth. When wealth actually does solve the man's problems, Reeves's character loses his wings and assumes the body of Ansari's affluent boss, played by Seth Rogen. Good Fortune marks the directorial debut of actor and comedian Aziz Ansari, who also co-stars. Along with Keanu Reeves, Good Fortune stars Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh.

Along with Good Fortune, Reeves currently has seven projects in development, according to IMDb. He's set to reprise his role as John Wick in the upcoming action revenge thriller Ballerina: A John Wick Story. The film, originally slated for a June 2024 release, has been pushed to 2025, but fans of the franchise will be excited to learn there's also a TV series in the works. John Wick: Under the High Table will take place following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. Where the series will land is currently unknown, but Peacock had previously picked up the limited series The Continental: From the World of John Wick. Though listed as a producer on the series, Reeves is not expected to star.
