Mayweather’s assessment of Ortiz is that he will not get a full recovery from the punishment he took in that fight.

Jeff Mayweather prefers Vergil Ortiz Jr. not to fight Terence Crawford because it could affect future matchups. Mayweather believes that the outcome of such a fight might complicate or limit his options for future big fights. According to him, fighting Terence Crawford would be considered disadvantageous. Crawford, who boasts of a record of 41-0, 31 knockouts, is one of the most talented fighters in the welterweight division. Mayweather estimated that Crawford was much better than him. In the fight between him and Crawford, he will certainly gain dominance over Ortiz.

He conjectured that Crawford may have been wary of the power that Madrimov possessed and was not sure whether Crawford had felt the might of Madrimov, which must have been known to him only theoretically. Mayweather thinks that Crawford was not at his best against Madrimov, which may prompt questions about what he will do against him when the latter is prepared.

Therefore, the recommendations given by Jeff Mayweather do stress some key factors to be taken into account as a fighter’s career is being built. Even though Vergil Ortiz Jr. is also a talented emergent and Mayweather’s protege, it is clear that the second fight with Bohachuk will be wiser than the immediate fight with Terence Crawford.
