Rich Pyrah Rejoins Yorkshire as Women’s Head Coach

Rich Pyrah is returning to Yorkshire; he has been appointed the new head coach for the women’s team. He was dismissed in 2021 for allegations of a racism row scandal that had hit the club. Pyrah was the former men’s batting coach of Yorkshire. He had emerged from the scrape at the root.

He was found guilty of racist abuse heaped against the sister of Azeem Rafiq and was slapped with a two-week coaching suspension and a fine. This was part of a wider workforce cull over individuals accused of being complicit with or embroiled somehow in the problematic culottes’ culture.

Yorkshire Welcomes Back Rich Pyrah

In an untimely revelation, Pyrah and the club settled after admitting the sacking was procedurally unfair. Only this year, the club was found to have brought back their boy, though the official statement from Yorkshire did not reveal records of previous issues.

Chairman of Yorkshire, Colin Graves, was enthusiastic at Pyrah’s return. He commended the man’s qualities, proclaiming that he had the right qualifications and vast experience and was fantastic in many ways. He noted that Pyrah had a tremendous pedigree in playing and coaching, making him the right man to steer the ladies’ team to higher heights.

Pyrah to Lead Yorkshire Women in Tier 2

With Rich Pyrah at the helm, Yorkshire’s women’s team will compete in Tier 2 of the revamped domestic structure of the ECB starting next season. The team will target the move to Tier 1 in 2026. This was, of course, to increase the competitiveness and standard of development in the women’s game.

Rich Pyrah said he was excited and honored to take the role. He said it was the proudest moment of his career and looked forward to contributing to the further growth of the women’s game in Yorkshire cricket. Pyrah viewed this as a great opportunity, considering the recent changes in the women’s professional game.

New Chapter for Yorkshire Women’s Team

Yorkshire are determined to regroup and make progress with their women’s team under Pyrah’s captaincy. The club remains focused and determined to move up the ladder and achieve new heights in Women’s cricket.
