Sports Illustrated recently posted on X, formerly Twitter, a quote from Edwards that read, “I’m not gonna lie, I felt bad a little bit. Only because he’s my favorite player of all time. I didn’t want to send him home like that.”

NBA analyst and former NBA player Jalen Rose recently asked Edwards about that experience with Durant at a Fanatics event. The 23-year-old responded, “I’m not gon’ lie I felt bad a little bit, only because he’s my favorite player of all time. I didn’t wanna send him home like that … It happened.” Edwards’ response is completely understandable, as no professional basketball player would want to sweep his childhood idol’s team intentionally. But things are bound to happen, and the Timberwolves advanced to the second round for the first time since 2004.

Furthermore, Durant reciprocated the love to Edwards, as he previously commented on Edwards’ game earlier this year. The 35-year-old said, “He’s my favorite player to watch… I love everything about Ant.”
